I tried it out and it may be a little advanced for me. I didn’t realize all the commands are different from regular debian. I have enough trouble remembering commands from 1 distro ha!I did get it installed but from there kind of stuck

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you prefer to work alone or in a group?
4·3 days agoWell Mr boss man ;)
Ai hasn’t done shit for me (engineering) . Its wrong and it lies. Waste of time for most things.
I enjoy working in groups as long as there isnt that one jock asshole trying to run it because he has a loud male voice and can talk over people. Fuck them.
With normal, smart people, I enjoy group work.
Yt seems to play fine actually just a bit slow
This looks fun! Yeah id like to try something different anywah
Appreciate it! Good points. I may try a different de. I think it is on x, not Wayland.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Finally switched my fiancee to bazzite, fuck me was it a trial
82·4 days agoYou are seeing the truth of why normies should not switch lol. Its way more work than people tell you and if you dont find it fun like I do , you’ll hate it.
I think people feel weird accepting help now more than they ever have. I’ve kind of stopped offering because my thoughts are more like “eh, they got it” type thing.
Silly me
Ill look into that! Sadly people aren’t gonna change from discord, it has too many features and ease of use for them.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Krisp (Discord) Likely to steal data?
51·7 days agoYeah its nearly impossible to get non techy people to swap, and there’s nothing out there that can do voice, text, gifs, and screen sharing all in one. I already have enough on my plate convincing the SO to use all FOSS programs whenever possible and having them switch to linux.
Nowadays if a program has 1 hiccup people freak out and run back into the arms of Google and meta.
I think there was one potential lawsuit I found . I haven’t read their privacy policy. Its fishy tho

Linux@lemmy.ml•What could be the best way to introduce the world of computers to a kid, let's say of 6 years old, so that he learns to handle it like a toy and stops dreading it like some esoteric, arcane and
42·10 days agoSure but “better” is subjective. Newer, sure. A ps5 game isnt inherently more fun than an n64 game. Im not a fan of new=good.
Also, it should be noted phones and tablets purely exist to consume, consume, consume. They’re not for creation; a computer is.
I think any kid interested in learning would find all aspects of computing cool, not just an ipad. Just like how I can have fun on a 2600, and also my gaming pc. Its all interesting and fun. I think kids just aren’t exposed to anything other than the shiny new ad filled dlc ridden consoles that get pushed now. There’s so much out there especially if you get into custom handhelds or ras pi etc.

21·10 days agoI mean I installed commodore os vision recently and I was like " I would have lost my mind if id had this at 6, there is so much you can do, with no internet!!" I got into computers at 5, and had no internet until probably 15 ish.
So id give a kid a pc with commodore os on it. It comes pre-installed with programming apps and games and drawing programs for kids too. Its awesome.

3·10 days agoBasically how I started !! Highly recommend.
Yeah they wouldn’t. They are no where near techy enough.
Sadly I cannot get my family or friends off messenger, will never happen, so im stuck. Same with discord.
I have 2 contacts on Signal. Thats all ive managed to convince.
I use reaper.
Edit: i will add, I do some music stuff for income so I have to make sure my system is rock solid and works with all aftermarket plugins from big names.
To that end, I have a mac mini (soon to be mac studio) that is solely for music. Linux for everything else. In my experience nothing is more solid than osx with music production and recording (~15 years experience).
An m1 mac mini can be had for under 300 dollars now and will perform very well with all but the craziest power hungry plugins. Id recommend a mac studio though, im outgrowing my mini with some more involved productions.

Its definitely for the more advanced users !
