Factorio devs once put out a blog post about game key stores. Essentially, they were running into the issue of people buying factorio keys with stolen credit cards and then reselling them for cheap on G2A or whatever. Then the credit card would get identified as stolen, charge backs would be issued, and bank fraud departments would get involved. As a result, the factorio devs were actually losing money from stolen credit card sales.

Of course, factorio is in a somewhat unique position of never putting the game on sale, so if you’re getting it cheap it’s probably from some dude using a stolen CC.

War isn’t about being super cool and good at killing, war is about logistics. Germany had fighter jets that could smoke any allied plane, and that didn’t matter because they couldn’t put more than 200 in the air at one time, and more realistically, maybe 50-100. Tigers routinely had K/D ratios in the high single/low double digits (with many of the D’s being their own crews blowing them to avoid capture), and they got overrun anyway. Even a modern fighter plane wouldn’t do much because it can’t be everywhere all at once. You just need to go around it.

At this point I think it’s a hardware (or the lack thereof) issue. I tried to virtual box on my computer using…I think cinnamon? Was recommended as a noob distro. Got weird error codes, googling them didn’t help.

Upon further discussion, I was informed that VB is one of the more complicated methods and I should just install it on another computer. Unfortunately I don’t have a fully functional second computer.

Once again, I agree. Perhaps my previous phrasing was a bit harsh, I’m not taking offense. In my judo practice, there’s this idea of “stupid uke”, an opponent who intentionally acts like dead weight. Living training dummy for learning new moves or perfecting your form.

Accessibility to normies is a common problem I see in smaller projects, even minor stuff like videogames. I’m thinking of a specific example right now, where the (small) dev team is clearly very talented…and very much falling into the expertise trap. Basically need to learn an entire programming language to play the game, which is not marketed as that kind of game.

I recognize that I’m ahead of the curve in this sense, and I will figure it out one day, probably very soon. I just want to point out that accessibility will be a major factor, and that this is something that privacy-focused software will have to reckon with sooner rather than later.

It would be nice if self defense often meant an abused person ending their abuser, but what it usually looks like is shooting minorities.

I feel like a billionaire pedophile can afford to buy a fall guy to take the death penalty for them.

The problem with “self-defense” is that it is often a “pre-emptive self-defense”, which is indistinguishable from aggression. Especially when it becomes a question of personal self defense using lethal weapons.
