    The first-past-the-post system is definitely a huge part of the problem. But in the US Senate the Republicans have the same number of seats with 40 million fewer votes. But somehow that is never a big issue in public discourse. If I was living in the US, I’d be shouting it from the rooftops every day.

      You’re probably talking about the “popular vote” which is ignored by the government

      The USA is a union of states. The House of Representatives is where the people are represented proportionally. The reason why we have the Senate is so that the smaller states don’t get fucked over by the more populous ones, because again, the states are legally equal under the union. I do think FPTP and the electoral college are stupid though.
