Having worked in tech companies for decades, I’ve never once felt comfy with letting computer science majors just take the wheel… but I’m sure someone think this hits “hard”.

Historically it’s blamed on UX. PMs don’t create products they run MS Excel.

This is a person saying they don’t like what everyone else on the planet deals with daily.

Fortunately they were published enough to not have to care.

PROVIDED the bullshitter doesn’t turn inward. A PM with those skills unleashed on the team is hell, and is guaranteed to drive talent away.

There wasn’t an excuse in the first place. It’s kinda amazing anyone can say centering a div was ever hard, especially if you have a computer science degree.

I mean sure it’s different from say object-oriented programming… but it’s frankly weird in a professional setting hearing grown adults with plenty of experience struggle over basic front-end work.

I was one of those students who asked how it would be used, the teachers didn’t do the whole real world application part, and I never needed to go past trig.

I work with engineers and use math like any other human on the planet but really wish mathematics was taught differently to make it more interesting. You hear a PHD candidate talk about the hairy ball problem and the math is interesting. Math class never was.

To translate: As a child learning math this equates to “ignore math, the explanations don’t explain anything real, they only explain more math.“

“The only explanation is more abstraction with no real world application as far as math class is concerned. Frankly, there’s more application to your own life experience if you focus on language and the arts.”

If it makes a dev’s life easier there’s no reason not to upend half the planet.
