Yes, that, in fact, is an unpopular opinion here.
i always thought /usr stood for “user”. Please tell me I’m not the only one
The difference is, that you’re using something for free, and you can disable this very easily.
I love that he finally talked about it. He shortly mentioned the switch to Linux a while ago, in a gaming video, and Im excited to see if this makes Desktop Linux a bit more popular.
I’m not that deep into the topic, but I experimented with GTK and tkinter as a kid
Idk, use whatever desktop environment with whatever theming suits you, there’s a seemingly endless supply. and if that really doesn’t work, try to make your own, i guess!
I’ve heard of “Disk Driller” but I have no idea how sletchy it is or if it’d work
I used Windows 7 before, but my first computers all ran Linux. (Raspberry Pi 2b with Raspian; First 64-bit PC ran Ubuntu Mate)
You know what? I didn’t believe you, since I’m using it for a long time on Linux and never had any issues with it. Today, when I helped a friend (on Windows) with some SFTP transfer and recommended FileZilla was the first time I realised the official Downloads page provides Adware. The executable even gets flagged by Microsoft Defender and VirusTotal. That’s actually REALLY bad. Isn’t FileZilla operated by Mozilla? Should I stop using it, even though the Linux versions don’t have sketchy stuff? It definitely leaves a really bad taste.
People don’t use FileZilla for server management anymore? I feel like I’ve missed that memo.
God I hate what the modern Internet does to my brain. I had to double check if that laptop is AI generated
I dont think the community is generally against AI, there’s plenty of FOSS projects. They just don’t like cashgrabs, enshittification and sending personal data to someone else’s computer.
I mean, it’s better to have to many comments than not enough
Well you can, but there only are quite hacky approaches like
I believe you can buy a dummy HDMI plug and use Deskreen to host the screen in a webserver. This should work, but I don’t think it’s a good solution.
Edit: Deskreen seems to no longer be maintained and therefore doesn’t support wayland. I think it’s because of the Ukrainian war, and the creator being directly affected by it.
I like this style, reminds me of modrinth
I think that seems like a good idea
