Exactly. I want to discover new artists, and sometimes I accidentally discover old artists that I should have known about but sheltered, raised-on-small-town-Midwestern-radio old me never could.

Have you looked at Sony phones? I recently switched to the Pixel Fold from a 1 Mark IV. Sony phones are some of the best IMO.

You could try Grayjay. I haven’t tried watching Twitch through it and that source is in beta, but the app is great overall
The best dry humor is that which the audience has to assume is meant to be funny, because the alternative is that it’s just the sad reality…
Just imagine if they hadn’t taken this approach. We might be paying for services and still not getting any privacy.
Unless the plane has <30 seats I’m taking being weighed as I board as a huge red flag.
My car offered a remote start on the key fob and even the dealer told me not to buy it because the range was so short. I ended up installing an after market Viper system that is cellular and costs ~$100 per year when I get 3 years at a time. So even the after market solutions have subscriptions. If you need a cell connection you have to pay for it
Here’s one article that runs through it, otherwise just search for terms like “plex local network” or “plex local authentication”
https://www.howtogeek.com/303282/how-to-use-plex-media-server-without-internet-access/
Yeah this is pretty much it. When it first happened to me I had no idea and just wrote it off as a glitch. Then it happened again or the Plex servers were out so everyone was talking about it. There should never be a reason for your home media server to need access beyond the local LAN.
The biggest problem with Plex (I’m a user) is that you need a network connection just to use it with your local media unless you do a little research to figure out how to bypass this. Why is this a problem? You don’t notice it until there’s a network outage and you want to watch something. Or if the Plex servers are glitching. It’s needlessly complicating the process of watching your media.
For me it’s that everything today is made out of some flavor of shitty plastic. Call ot whatever you want - “Active Wear”, “Cool Breeze”, “Dry Tech” - it’s polyester, it feels terrible, and amps my BO up to 11 even if I’m just sitting still.
