Just because you heard some stories which were false doesn’t mean all stories are false.
On this wiki page it is explained that linguistics do believe the word Yankee comes from Jan Kees or Jan Kaas. It explains it can also come from the name Janneke, which is a new to me.
Kaas.
Fun fact: New York was founded by the Dutch. A curse word for a Dutch guy was “Jan Kaas”, which changed over the years to “Yankees”.

So many trees have destroyed people their houses with stupid forest fires. Have you ever heard of algae fires? No! Because algae aren’t assholes!
Yeah trees are assholes. They always ring my doorbell trying to sell me the book of Gaia. Constantly telling me “you can’t smoke here, sir”. There’s a tree behind my house who constantly wears the same glasses as me. Whenever I buy new ones, a day later this tree has the same. He’s constantly mocking me for no reason.
I think all trees should be cut down and burned. Algae never complain, are always kind and always say “good day sir” when you walk by.

I was just a tourist, so take that into account. But in Napoli I felt fine on the main shopping streets, but when I would take a side road I felt very unsafe and watched. It’s clear you don’t belong there and you feel a target on your back, or at least that was my experience. Tourist heavy areas are better, but there are more pickpockets there too. I felt like I constantly had to look over my shoulder and shouldn’t divert too far from the busy roads.
It’s really bad how the country is so divided. It would be better for everyone if this would change. But there’s a lot of crime in the south, so I wouldn’t want to live there.
I wouldn’t want to live near Napoli, or anywhere in the south. Italy is basically 2 countries. The rich north and the extremily poor south. It’s a nice country but also has it’s own issues. I love to go on holiday there, don’t know if I would want to live there. But I have the luxury of living in The Netherlands, I guess anything is better than the US right now. Knowing the language helps a lot, if you do not speak it then for sure learn Italian, even if it’s just the basics. Americans don’t have a great status as expats or tourists, anywhere really, adjusting to the customs and loosing the americanism is recommended.

4·6 months agoIt’s so I hopefully get the right answer so I don’t have to switch to an alternative for my calender (just switched from Google), my mail, vpn and password manager. I am a paying customer since May 2019. I was happy with Proton and what they stand for, their CEO is now ruining everything. “We want to switch to a foundation so our goal will be preserved.” Sure… Spreading fake news and taking a political stance in the US, while at the same time claiming to be Swiss neutral. Why do almost all techbros have to become evil now Trump is becoming president again. Even Swiss foundations.
I did. Their reply was generic and useless. “Yen said on Reddit it’s his personal opinion.” Yet he used the Proton admin account to spread his opinion (based on fake news).
