That’s kind of the implication of your comment. It doesn’t affect me, so why is it a big deal. If that’s not what you meant, it’s not coming across in your comments.

In college - Assume everything is linear
Later - Everything is not linear

5·8 months agoI use Unreal Engine right now, but I’ve also used Godot and Unity in the past. I dont use Unity anymore, and probably won’t ever bcz of some shenanigans they’ve pulled in the recent past. Also used pygame, and way back before I discovered game engines I tried using OpenGL and SDL directly. (Do not recommend going that route) They are way too low level for you to make any real progress, at least in a timely manner. They are what you’d want to use if you are trying to write your own game engine, but most people aren’t trying to do that. Most people just want to make games.

633·8 months agoYou couldn’t pay me to write a game in C today. Our expectations of what games have to be are sky high today. You cant get away with the productivity lost writing in c, maybe c++ since its supported by a number of engines. But, im personally not aware of a single engine that uses C. I tried my hand at writing a game without an engine, and it was a hot mess. Writing low level code to make a button with text, no thanks…been there done that, in my game, you could bump into trees and get stuck…not very fun in my opinion, and thats after a few months of writing code.

27·8 months agoWell, they aren’t. But if you think on the implications of that too much you end up in a philosophical meta physics grey area thats untestable. Its best just to go to sleep and not think about it 🤣
I once found a commit message in our commit history that just said, “i hate git…” bcz they hadn’t changed anything, and I think it took a new line character and decided that they’d actually changed like 5 lines of code twhen they hadn’t.
It was the funniest shit, someone who was a senior lead for like 9 years that had left, and 5 years later I find that…
I feel ya my home! This comment burns me with the feels of a thousand suns. I hate that it’s related so much to this.

73·9 months agoThe last administration didnt try to gut NSF science funding, nasa, our Healthcare, social security, or any of the other dumb crap in the reconciliation bill just passed. If you seriously think the Biden administration was bad, you didnt pay attention. My job, my colleagues jobs are on the line, my partner might lose all funding for her job, my friends are losing their jobs, PBS and NPR facing funding cuts. My grandfather, my uncle, my step father, all potentially losing their disability, social security, etc. People trying to strip us of citizenship, this shit is not normal. The fact that you are trying to equate the two administration’s is fucking disingenuous as fuck.

94·9 months agoI’m not even gonna address your points. We are all frustrated with the state of the U.S.
My point was just that the Trump administration is not better than the alternative. We can all agree on that. If you can’t or won’t admit that, then you’re part of the problem.

137·9 months agoThis isn’t about Gaza. We all know that the situation in Gaza is fucked, and the Biden administration wasn’t friendly to Gaza. I was pissed as hell at their response. But that doesn’t mean bringing fascism home to the U.S. is the solution.
