Oh nice. I missed out on the wiiu entirely, so I wasn’t aware it was as capable as it is!

Original Wii is a very capable CFW/piracy device as well.
Cuffed would be more like detained. Not free to leave, because they’re actively investigating, but no charges are being presented. Literally just placed in cuffs while the police do their snooping.
You could say it’s an absolute truth that absolute truths do not exist.
There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism. And yet, we’re still forced into capitalism, with little choice but to participate or starve. You can object to a system and say that it’s unethical, but also necessarily play into that system.
We all gotta eat. Long as there’s our current form of capitalism, we all gotta pay rent (or mortgage). Until those needs relax, we’re essentially saying “pick between your needs and being a good person.” One of our strongest drives is to survive, and so if the only way for some to survive is off the backs of others, it’s the inevitable outcome.
Of course we should all be striving to change this. Effective change comes from slow, repeated effort though, not just fruitlessly chasing an ethical job. If you just stay where you are, then that’s fine. Do what you can from within, safely. We all do that, and we’ll slowly steer this ship.
Show me two people who can speak to each other like that, and sure. And if they want to say I’m behind the times because I didn’t learn their lingo, then that’s fine and valid, too. There are two of them, what do I care their opinion on my linguistic ability?
As more people start to use these words, though, not being able to understand them does me harm. And at that point, the natural conclusion will be that I learn and, in some cases, adopt the new lingo. It’s the only real way it CAN go - what incentive do they have to not use their lingo? Others understand them fine.
The rabbit lies too.
Depending on what you’re needing done, a lot of times IT has to cover their asses. If it didn’t happen on that phone call, it didn’t happen. I always appreciate the gumption, you probably saved us like, 30 call just from figuring out other issues yourself. If it’s anything that will cost the company money, though, like replacing hardware - if I don’t take due diligence in making sure those earlier steps are done, it’s my ass on the line.
You know you’re smart enough to do the troubleshooting, but that technician has probably 1000+ users that rotate weekly, they can’t keep a log book of which ones are good and which ones will land them in the shit. I totally get the frustration, but the ones who lie about doing simple troubleshooting ruin it for everyone.
It’s the same as going to a mechanic and saying “my car doesn’t work!” No shit? That’s usually why people come here. Wanna be more specific?
I support doing the troubleshooting yourself. Just be aware, if you call with one of those 9 out of 10 cases, we’re still going to have to do ALL of those steps again, so I can document that we tried them before sending any hardware. I’ve been burned one too many times by someone telling me they’ve already tried something.
To be fair, I do IT for convenience stores. Sometimes we have to reboot pumps or similar, and all we can do is have them throw a breaker for 30 seconds lmao
You honestly sound very depressed and like you really don’t know what you ARE. Try things, open mindedly, and you may find that some of these things are you, or can be fun regardless. Stop getting in your own way.
Sounds like you finally have a chance to be the adult in a room. Could be a fun, new experience for you!
They’re more seen at older businesses that have been there forever. Newer ones get newer signs, with more flashy displays.
Here in Portugal, most display useful info like date, time, outside temperature (with varying degrees of accuracy),
We have ones like this in the states too. My favorite near me is at a church. It cycles between temp and date, but the display has too few characters, so instead of just being two screens, date then temp, it’s 3 - day and month, a second screen that just says “/24” and then the temp.
I recently got into armored combat so, knights. If we’re gonna kill each other, let’s at least be civilized!
Reminds me of Jung’s theory around The Gaze, and how by ourselves we are our own subjects, capable of authoring our own paths, but as soon as another being is introduced and we’re subject to their gaze, their own aspect of being a subject necessarily forces some objectification upon us (and us on them). It’s interesting theory, and a good examination of why some people feel so incredibly uncomfortable with others around.
Funny, for me repeat offenders somehow always had a second request I couldn’t find until 430pm on a Friday. Strange how it always happened. Oh well, sucks to suck.
Reminds me of this video, the the impotence of proofreading
