im guessing some people have political reasons to dislike russia
If you consider trying to genocide a neighboring country “political reasons” I guess.
Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.
Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.
Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

The big one of endgame is Tony Stark commits the single worst crime in the history of the universe by “un-snapping” the half of the universe that was snapped by Thanos 5 years after they disappeared. No accounting for all the people who are dead in the meantime, no accounting for all the awkward conversations of “oh for me I just blinked and now you have two kids and a new wife” or “who are you people and why are you in my house where am I supposed to live now” all because he lacks the imagination to make the universe go back 5 years while keeping Pepper and his daughter the same.
Oh and
he dies in the process too
. That’s probably more important to most people.
That’s how I felt about infinity war and endgame.
I decided not to watch after finding out it was a 2 parter, then after endgame came out I still hadn’t watched it after a good year and a half.
Then someone spoiled the ending out of nowhere in a post and I decided I’d finally watch it.
I’m impressed you’ve gone this long.
Ah. Well that’s a relief, I removed foxit, and never had anything Adobe.
I open the pdfs in inkscape to pull the vector files and save them as an svg. There’s probably a simpler way, but this allows me to open the vector in a lot more programs like my laser software and my CAD programs.
The only pdfs that get printed like a normal person are small rc planes and the files are from trusted sources.
It’s nice to know I can do a little extra to protect myself from pdf based attacks though, thanks for the info!
It was.
In Ohio? I’m almost positive it isn’t legal. It’s definitely illegal in states like California. But they’re banking on nobody recording their interview audio (which I will now be doing as Ohio is single-party state) and nobody complaining if asked.
I doubt it’s a company policy, but I did send an email to their company offices to complain about it, for all the good it will do.
Not programming, but in the same vein, A Trek Bicycle store manager asked me in an interview if I would be willing to work a trial shift the next day building bicycles. Unpaid, of course. Just to see if I was a good fit.
Of course, since I was used to building 50 a day, I would have gotten all of them done in a single shift whereas they were needing to call in stores from surrounding areas to come help in a few days.
I laughed and said if they needed help tomorrow I would be happy to work for my usual fee of $20/bike.
Oddly, I did not get the job
Any questionable software I have is coming up on 4 years old now, most of it is older than that. I move them to a new machine every time I upgrade, simply because I don’t trust torrents anymore.
Honestly, I don’t trust PDFs anymore unless they’re from places I know are “safe” which kind of sucks because I’ve been getting back into RC as a hobby and it’s hard to find non-pdf plans. I prefer vector files, but I’m having to try my luck with jpg and png files.
A lot of the programs I used to use have been surpassed by current FOSS projects, and I’ve been replacing them as I can. Finding an open source laser engraver program that isn’t shit is proving difficult.
It definitely made me double-take at first because my brain tried to read “burners” at first until I realized that isn’t what it said…
And I thought the torches were flags for a second, too.
Banners of books
People who exist to ban books from being read
That or there’s a giant banner stretched out and made entirely of books just to the left.
It’s still weak, just like humans are still slow.
At least compared to other animals.
But like gravity, we just keep going. And going. And going.
And when the animals we hunted collapsed from exhaustion, we just kept coming. And then took it all the way back we came.
Just like gravity.
We can try to keep going until we just can’t anymore, but gravity will just grab us and haul us back.
Compared to the other forces, gravity is a weak ass bitch.
I absolutely like pests!
I like them to stay out of my house, mostly.
But you know, all the other stuff that helps keep us alive is a big bonus, too.
African, or European?
Okay so even though I read all this last night, I somehow missed the “2000 - (-2000) years” thus making the current geological age around 4000 years, and technically Pompeii would not count in the strictest definition. That said, had it happened 4,000 years ago, absolutely nothing would have changed. All the stuff would still be carbonized.
Also from Wikipedia in the (geological age) article: An age is the smallest hierarchical geochronologic unit. It is equivalent to a chronostratigraphic stage.[14][13] There are 96 formal and five informal ages.[2] The current age is the Meghalayan.
So again the answer is “yes it counts” but my personal take is “it feels weird to consider 4,000-10,000 ago multiple different geologic ages”
From wikipedia: A fossil (from Classical Latin fossilis, lit. ‘obtained by digging’)[1] is any preserved remains, impression, or trace of any once-living thing from a past geological age.
Answer: yes. It does count. Specifically carbonization.
Personal take: when I think of a “fossil”, I think of the stereotypical mineralized bones. Like the T-Rex in the museum of natural history that most people have seen from various movies and TV shows. Thinking of human and human predecessor bones as fossils is just weird to me.
Yet only one of us seems to spend a lot of time on lemmy shitting on others for no reason. Weird.
Have a nice day.
You’re off by a few decades, but sure.
You make a good point, I’ll have to see if there are any practical applications in Europe or Canada.
I believe that my gay neighbors should be able to grow weed in their yard and if you diss our trans homies, we might get violent before we bother asking nicely for you to leave, and if you refuse then the guns are coming out. Armed minorities are harder to oppress.
Judge away.
Man I just love being undesirable in every country due to my beliefs, lifestyle, or lack of a degree.
You know, it’s always funny when sci-fi shows have doctors that refer to current year medical practices as “barbaric” or “Savage”, but honestly looking back just 50 years? Same feeling.
200 years ago, the local “doctor” will probably tell you to take a swig of the bottle he just dumped on your wound, because he’s gotta saw it off. Hopefully they at least washed it since it’s last use.
200 years from now? Eh. Doc will wave a light over it, you’ll be fine.
