  • India has aligned itself with China, Russia, Brazil, and South Africa. All countries that have been kicked out of the international adults table

…because their leadership act like babies.

Second quote is me completing the original. Why did you cut that last part of the sentence out?

You are aware you just counted 40% of the world population, and with them comes 20% more? So you dismissed more than half of human population in one sentence?

Ah that’s why. Yeah no they didn’t. They were talking about the people leading those countries, not the entire population.

Let’s not even talk about racist part, which I hope is not intentional, when you take a look of who left on your “interational adult table”.

It’s racist to call someone of another race “boy”.

It’s not racist to say that a country’s leadership is acting childish. Heck it would actually be racist if someone were to say “all Indians are childish.” But that’s not what happened.

People call other people childish all the time without a hint of racist intent.

  • Well yes, what I meant by that word choice was “unfortunately for Reddit”, but good for you and me! I’m loving that people seem to be realizing that it’s really not hard making an alternative to what is essentially a text-based website.

The thing that is truly unfortunate is how much harder the same is to do for data-heavy sites for sharing images, videos, etc.

  • Personally I think the format of upvoting posts to decide what people talk about, upvoting comments to decide what information/opinions get more visibility, and branching comment threads so you can have multiple conversations about the same topic is just a much nicer format than forum threads just being bumped because someone posted “bump” and having multiple conversations trying to keep track of each other in one single comment thread. Unfortunately that formula can be easily replicated so really it was just a matter of time before similar alternatives popped up. Same thing happening with Twitter and Threads, all you did was give people a different way to post Facebook statuses, you didn’t really “invent” anything so much as iterate on an existing concept and nothing about the idea was that difficult to replicate once it was legitimized as a tried and true formula.

  • Oh, there’s a trial and some other stuff.

Only if you’re one of the lucky outliers.

In fiscal year 2022, only 290 of 71,954 defendants in federal criminal cases – about 0.4% – went to trial and were acquitted, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of the latest available statistics from the federal judiciary. Another 1,379 went to trial and were found guilty (1.9%).

The overwhelming majority of defendants in federal criminal cases that year did not go to trial at all. About nine-in-ten (89.5%) pleaded guilty, while another 8.2% had their case dismissed at some point in the judicial process, according to the data from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
