I prefer 1080p but if not available then 720p is perfectly fine as well. 4k is overkill and I don’t even have a monitor that could play it at native resolution. Where I do prefer “lower quality” though is framerate. I don’t like how 60fps looks so I force YouTube to play videos at 24fps.

Never had issues with them. I’ve even picked them up from the pool with bare hands and they still wont sting.

The fact that you use their services despite claiming to oppose them probably tells more about how you really feel than your words do. You’re benefiting from their abusive business model the same whey they themselves are. Justifying the continued use of their services by not paying is just a cope to deal with the cognitive dissonance.

I’ll buy premium when they finally manage to either prevent adblocking entirely or make it sufficiently inconvenient. Stopping using YouTube is not an option for me and neither is watching ads. YouTube (along with porn) is the internet for me. If I’m not viewing either content, I’m probably not on my computer.

Hell, I don’t even blame them. I can’t morally justify blocking ads and viewing their content for free. I do it because it’s easy and I get away with it. I don’t believe in ads-based business model and that basically leaves subscribtion as the only viable alternative. Not paying and still using the service isn’t exactly practicing what I preach.

That’s what SponsorBlock already does. It however doesn’t detect the sponsor but instead it jumps over a part of the video marked with timestamp but with different people seeing different lenght ads, these timestamps no-longer match.

Not using the default ones is a probable cause for why your browser gets flagged. Restore to default settings and make sure you don’t have other adblockers enabled (such as the one built into YouTube Enhancer add-on) If you still get the pop-up you can update the “quick fixes” list or wait an hour or so for the uBlock team to catch up with Google’s latest updates to the detection script.

If only that happening once was enough to learn from our mistakes.

If I like the song then I don’t care who the artist is but if I really don’t like the artist and feel so strongly about it that I want to make a statement then I simply don’t listen to them.

The only ads I see are physical ones on the sides of the road and in stores. All the rest I either block or manage to avoid by some other means.

My capacity to pay attention to things is limited so I prefer to not waste it on stuff that isn’t important or interesting. When an user demonstrates incapability for civil discussion I choose to dismiss them entirely. I’m perfectly aware that by doing so I’m also filtering out a ton of potentially valuable content but I simply don’t care because there’s an effectively infinite amount of it.

What’s your point? What else would blocking be for than to stop me from seeing messages from the people I’ve blocked?

Advertising is among the most studied psychological phenomenoms in the world. It’s not so much about getting you to buy their product but more about you remembering the brand. Ads work. That why they’re everywhere.

Sure I can name several brands that I’m not buying from either because of their ads… …but I remember the brands.

In Finland our equivalence to Wal-Mart also sells cheap gas and they have ads on their pumps advertising their own products but it’s just on the display and there’s no sound with it.

If you want to know JP’s thought on incels you can look it up and hear it from the man himself rather than look for someone to intrepret it for you and add their own spin to it.

I worked with him on the same construction job for months. I never brought it up and he acted towards me like nothing ever happened. However it’s clear to me that he never changed and is still more or less the same person than he was back then. If anything I only feel sorry for him. It’s not his fault, he can’t help himself.
