  • I personally love torrents, their decentralized nature will make them last forever.

I would love to see a client that shows you a full catalog of movies and shows and downloads right from the client. If I choose a movie it will just start downloading it right there and can let me watch it in a few minutes. Basically similar to popcorn time but actually maintained, and also supports a vpn.

My family still likes to use streaming services because they choose something off of Netflix and watch. It would be nice to have the same experience with torrents.

  • That’s the beauty of lemmy and other open protocols, you can experience it however you like. If you prefer the stock web experience, it’s there, if you prefer an alternative web experience, it’s there, if you prefer an app, there are several to choose from. If you don’t like any of that, you can even spend some time and make your own crazy thing.

  • Pulseaudio and pipewire are kind of like audio drivers (not exactly but anyway). Let’s say you’re running spotify and discord. They both send their audio to pipewire. You can then use pipewire to control how loud each one is. It also supports more complex use cases like if you’re streaming, you can hook up the spotify output and your microphone mixed together into discord’s input so that the mixed audio will be streamed.

Pipewire is newer and basically replaces another system called jack that did the same thing for pulseaudio.

Well that’s subjective, but I see your point, there are definitely much higher quality products out there. But if you grew up with some of their products, there is the nostalgia factor, plus if you can’t afford the higher quality products, you are still going to buy nestle products. You could say they have us by the balls.

  • Depending on where you live, it might be nice to see a lot more of what’s around you on a bike. It’s similar to OP’s idea of getting lost in the flow of a competitive sport. You get lost looking at all the places that pass you by. You can take random routes each time and learn the city around you pretty well. It doesn’t hurt to have your headphones in and listen to an audiobook while you’re doing this either.

I never really got into running because it’s so much slower than biking. You will see a fraction of what you see on a bike, so I think it probably gets boring quicker. Plus it puts more strain on your joints.
