  • It’s a Jeep so you’re really gonna need that warranty too, lmao

Had a chat with a fella on that other site a while ago who said he wanted to buy another Grand Cherokee after being from a Jeep family and previously owning Jeeps… And ended up getting a lightly used BMW X5 for less money, more power and a better interior. It’s probably going to last him longer too. And that was one of them fancy uber complex V8 X5’s that Americans prefer. If you get one with the inline 6 (particularly the diesel 6 that isn’t available in the US lol), the engine is also rock solid.

  • It’s for local service discovery. Those services may be printers on your network, or another computer sharing music on iTunes (which is why as a Windows user you’d usually get Bonjour when installing iTunes). Or maybe it’s your Raspberry Pi.

It feels iffy because it comes bundled with other software without you being asked (IIRC) and it autoruns on startup. And I mean 20 years ago when iPods were a thing and people had to use iTunes on Windows, a couple dozen megabytes of RAM really mattered too. Hell I had 512 MB back when I had an iPod (and therefore iTunes)

  • It’s a very expensive form of advertising. It means you have to have margins. There are a bunch of VPNs out there, so you’d expect the space to be competitive, but somehow a couple of them can spend like half their revenue on advertising?

Though I did just now realize that they do it instead by having enticing start-up prices and really expensive prices after the fact, so maybe they don’t have to supplement their income by selling data after all.
