If I’m doing anything substantial, calculation-wise, I use openpyxl.

Agreed. I really tried to like Libre/OpenOffice over the years but it never felt right. OnlyOffice really hits the spot for me.
I don’t use Windows much any more but I was happy with the discounted student version of Office 2016, afaik the last perpetual license.
It’s a bit more barebones but I really like BoxySVG
I don’t know about Adobe but I think it’s true for some software.
My previous employer (~30 person company) got in trouble for a Fusion360 file that was sent to a customer after being edited by an intern’s pirated copy. Employees and interns typically used a different licensed CAD software.
I think the pirated file being opened at a larger company tipped them off, but I don’t know how they ultimately tracked us down.
That being said, I personally wouldn’t want the stress of using pirated software, let alone pirated assets in a professional setting.
Debian slim is my go to!
I’m a long time Ubuntuee making the move to Debian. Already made the move on desktop, servers to follow over time. Love raspbian on my Pi4…
It’s just too familiar at this point :)
It can also save money. I love just printing things I need rather than buying them! Even if I have to do some test fits, I can easily beat off-the-shelf prices with some meters of PLA.
Happy with my Prussia mini, but starting to feel the post-processing itch.

I was also on Memmy thinking “what a tease…” 😂
If you don’t add a WiFi network and don’t plug in ethernet then you can also make a local account.
Almost always use Ubuntu in production. Also a bit of Centos at one point.
Slax live CD when I was around 13 in the early 2000s.
Still use it for dev env and servers (Debian) but prefer Win/Mac for a desktop manager
Xubuntu is an official option…
Windows 10 but I use WSL for VS code and docker.
I love Linux, 20+ years I’d use, but the desktop experience is inferior to Win/Mac in my opinion. I do hope that changes though.
Would be nice if it was an option that could be enforced on a community level.
Definitely give Debian a shot, there are just so many more, up-to-date resources available due to the popularity. Handles great out of the box and is super stable.
I use Ubuntu in the cloud, Raspbian for my home server and Ubuntu via WSL on my PC. So, all headless, I’m actually still looking for a desktop environment that I would prefer to Windows (which is slowing devolving…)
This post reminded me of getting free distribution CDs in the mail back in the day.
You might also find the Python library pandas useful. Its “DataFrames” can mirror your excel data 1:1 and you have convenience methods like to_excel(). Easy to combine with numpy for performant matrix math.
XLSX just becomes a container for storing/sharing your data, and while Python is used for analysis. I would use matplotlib for plotting rather than embedding in the sheet.
