You’re infantalizing people by assuming everyone who doesn’t know how the internet works lacks critical thinking skills. Do you ever interact with non nerdy people? Additionally, some people do genuinely lack the capacity to understand how systems like the internet work, are we supposed to just let them get taken advantage of or exclude them from society?
I’m ignoring your last sentence because its entirely irrelevant to the situation, the data that Google was collecting from people using incognito mode is not data that they needed to make their services work.
I understand how the internet works but you apparently don’t understand how people work. Normal people have absolutely no concept of how the internet works, they don’t understand what data servers need about them to function, or what a packet is. They need to be explicitly told that even though they’re using a privacy mode Google is still collecting data on them, especially since they’re collecting data even if you are not going to google hosted sites.
I’m seeing a lot of people make arguments like this and I just don’t get it. Is your point that its okay for tech companies to prey on the ignorance of nontechnical users? We can’t expect everyone to know everything about every service they interact with.
So you lie to yourself, got it.
By then GNU/Hurd will be ready lmao
I see you went to the Ben Shapiro school of argumentation.
I mean Firefox is mostly funded by a deal with Google to have them as the default engine. I don’t like it but I understand why it is the way it is.
“Socialists of Lemmy, would you move to a country that someone who has absolutely no idea what socialism is thinks is socialist?”
Lmao.
Liferea was the first project I contributed to almost a decade ago. I use RSS Guard now but I’m glad to see it’s still kicking.
I switched when they added tabs in version 1.5 (I think) and it’s pretty much the only browser I’ve seriously used since.
It’s wild that there aren’t any FOSS Tetris games for Android that have been updated this decade.
I’m guessing because OP was lying about his interaction with hexbear and their removed comments as well as that post were posted as a screenshot to hexbear. There was probably a huge flood of hexbear comments calling them out and the mods figured it would be easier to just remove the post.
Just my guess.
Then do the one time payment option that was added literally a couple hours after the launch of the public beta?
Tech Bros
Agreed, seeing someone open a bottle with their teeth is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Yeah, I used to carry an opener before but once you know what you’re doing everything is a bottle opener.
I don’t think you understand the concept of friends. I’m sorry that it was hard to get said tickets but trying to make money on selling tickets you’re not going to use anyway to friends is major douche canoe behavior.
It’s like YouTube but the only good content is about Linux. The rest is deplatformed racists.
The register is out of the UK and the bulk of their readership is in the US, in both places apple has above 50% market share.
