Even more so, it’s turned into a hot button topic where people will be actively pissed of at you if you try to bring it up in discussion, calling it a “dog whistle” for nazi / anti-women ideology.

I went on a deployment, got a nice gaming laptop for that. When I got home back to my desktop, I basically had no need for it so I hooked it up to my living room TV. At first I just played some controller friendly games on it, but now I use it as the entire media center with Stremio and qbittorrent and the likes. I use unified remote to have my phone as the remote.
When I get deja vu, it feels to me like I’ve dreamt of whatever is happening before, I’ve always pretty easily been able to say “oh it’s just deja vu” and move on.
But once, I woke up and told my wife about a strange dream involving very specific details of a situation with me and my brother. Along the lines of my brother throwing a beer can, it bounced off the trash can, bounced off me, then back into the trash can.
A few days later, my brother did exactly that. I was dumbstruck, even my wife was like “what the hell”
I’ve heard of polyphia but never listened to them. The fact you recommended them next to Snarky Puppy was what got me to look them up, and WOW!
Yes, 24, army taught me on deployment. It was fun! I’m tempted to get a manual on my next car, but I’d like my wife to be able to use it :P
Music streaming is just … Objectively better for everybody. Small bands can be heard, hence the indy scene booming so hard, consumers can access their content anywhere there’s internet.
I think you miss the ritual around getting physical media and having a session where you just sit back and listen to the album for the first time. You could try to replicate it, but I think child-like wonder was the main ingredient ;)
Yeah the sentiment surrounding vapes generally is that they’re better than cigarettes. Most people still want to entirely quit vaping, quit nicotine altogether.
Unfortunately, vapes are super enticing to younger people. Even ignoring the underage market entirely, young people love vaping. I’m in the army, so maybe my demographics are skewed, but EVERYBODY is vaping super high nicotine disposable vapes these days.
When I first started vaping, nicotine concrentations were commonly 3 or 6 mg/ml, now 50mg/ml is common.
Don’t sleep on the VA home loan. Lots of Americans are in the position to afford the month-to-month costs of a house, just can’t afford the down payment get approved on the mortgage. VA home loan is means you only have to put like… $2-4k down, instead of $30k.
That’s what I keep saying. I keep getting told I’m wrong though, that Lemmy needs to be easier to join, and hit critical mass and become the reddit killer because that’s the only way we can exist.
Like, no thank you. I’m happy with Lemmy NOW, I don’t need it to keep growing!
I think these communities are plenty big already! I spent a while on tildes before coming here so in used to, and enjoy, smaller communites.
That’s how I feel right now. I don’t need the Fediverse to replace reddit and Twitter, I want it to be a refuge from the commercialized crap! The people who can’t be bothered to figure out Lemmy or Mastodon can stay right where they are!
Yes, this deployment taught me I need to switch to the air force when my contract is up. I like being in the military, I’m just over being army infantry. I did the cool guy stuff! Get me a desk job!!
It took me a while. Once I was in shape, didn’t get horribly sore, could hit impressive PR’s, and saw undeniable results. That’s when I switched from “ugh gotta go to the gym” to “hell yes time to tear it up at the gym”
I think seeing the massive pattern of progress without dealing with the soreness is what I need to enjoy it.
I’m taking this opportunity to vent. I just got back from a year long deployment from a snowy, mountainous region. I’m geared for cold, used to the cold. Even at the hieght of summer there, it was like … 70°F. They decided to demobilize us in El Paso, TX!!! It’s murderously hot here every day, and our barracks don’t have AC!!! So after walking around all day in a head to toe uniform in Texas desert heat, I don’t even get the luxury of feeling cold, crisp air 😭😭😭
I imagine they could if they knew exactly what you did and when, but if it doesn’t get discovered until later and nobody knows what happened, it would probably be a bitch to figure out
