  • We don’t grow our crops in a desert. They grow in very specific regions of the world, often in areas that are suitable due to natural formations and easily obtainable water. Most of Canada is forested land that is uninhabited with no infrastructure such as roads, running water, or electricity - not to mention there has never been a large agricultural presence in those areas, so it would have to be started from scratch, if it is possible at all.

When you say we’ll huddle around the proverbial fires, it might be a very small human population. Our civilization (likely including both of us) probably won’t be around at that point.

  • I just follow the Mr. PeanutButter philosophy on life at this point

“The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn’t a search for meaning. It’s to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you’ll be dead”

Basically stop thinking so deeply about the enigmas you will never understand and try to enjoy the small things in life. A walk in a park. Helping someone less fortunate. Cooking a good meal, etc.

  • Our school computer lab had Mac LC II computers. On them they installed a software called “Foolproof” which would prevent users from making any changes to the system outside of specific directories, iirc. I realized it was a system extension by reading the helpfiles on the computer, and that you could disable all extensions by rebooting and holding the shit key on startup.

The guy who ran the computer lab was not too happy that a 10 year old figured all this out.
