Love can hurt too… I am going through a rough patch at the moment and I sometimes wish I never knew love because the pain of losing it is the worst pain in the world… I don’t think that helps you much, but it is another side

When I was young my Dad bought me some mercury home from work… I loved how it moved when I shook the bottle and the weight of it.
When I had my own kids I didn’t want it around, so our local council had set up a event where you could dispose of household liquids like old paints and solvents, so I took it down. When I drove up, the guy asked me what I was disposing of so I said mercury. It was bizarre. I was told to stay in the car and a guy came out of a shed in a full hazmat suit with one of those pairs of metal tongs to retrieve it from me.
I remember Dad telling me that miners used to collect gold pan tailings in mercury and then of a night they would hollow out a potato and put the mercury in, and then put that in the camp fire… it would burn off the mercury and leave a little ingot of gold.
How much lost money have I walked past in my life and not noticed… can also include gold.
I got a cheap 4 bay Terramaster off Amazon for $250 AUD… they are on special a few times a year including prime day and Black Friday. They are ok. I get about 95MB/s write to a raid 5 array
Swept Away with Madonna… it was so bad I couldn’t finish it, I had zero interest in what might happen
I just realised that I probably wouldn’t realise it was strange, I might have to ask someone who knows me
Quite a few years ago I used eBay to find some of the toys I had as a kid… a unique Matchbox car, some original trilogy Star Wars figures, some collector cards. I associate them with my childhood so when I look at them of touch them it takes me back to that simpler time and makes me happy
over the last 15 years or so I would have spent $10k on mattresses of all types… inner spring, micro spring, full latex, a mix of above… all end up with body indentations that cause back pain. In the end I bought a cheap mattress in a box (Koala Brand) that is hard as a brick and a latex topper, it has been wonderful
Or tinnitus
Visually, you cannot beat the Darth/Luke battle scene in the carbonite freezing chamber in ESB… it is like art. The orange and the blue are so beautiful
I don’t think I have touched a pen for much other than signing my name since Covid hit
No the docks don’t have any video processing capability, they either convert the usb-c to video, or they have a driver like DisplayLink. In the case of Dell, the usb-c docks are limited to one 2k or greater monitor at a time, so you can have a 2k and 1080p, but not 2 x 2k or a 2k and a 4K… the Thunderbolt version of the same dock has no such limitation
My work uses Azure Virtual Desktop and there is no Linux client for it, only the web client which seems vastly inferior. Even running in a browser on Windows the colours are terrible.
As one door closes, another opens on the shit-chute to hell
I have seen a few… I started work at a young age as an apprenticeship painter for the railways, and when I was 16 I witnessed my first fatality and had to get down onto the track and cover the remainder of her body with a sheet, I saw another lady OD in a waiting door and have her boyfriend put her on the train and jump back off again, but I witnessed the OD… plus a couple of relatives
