Crates aren’t exactly runtime dependencies, so i think that’s fine as long as the 1500+ dependencies actually help prevent reinventing the wheel 1500+ times

Most of systemd stuff is decoupled well. You don’t need to use networkd to make use of resolved for example.
The Buckets (budgetwithbuckets) budgeting app is also a personal favourite of mine. Unlimited evaluation period, no subscriptions and even a regional pricing program called “Buckets by the Loaf”. I really love how they go about it

Also recommend “ente Auth” if you prefer a secure cloud based alternative to authy.
You could write a script to automatically watch for new files in a folder and strip metadata from every file i guess. I had done something like that for images way before.
