I have a long involved horror story that led up to me needing a root canal that I decided not to post here because it probably isnt nteresting to anybody but me.
For the most part, a root canal is kind of minor. They numb your gums where they’re going to inject a numbing agent, then they inject a numbing agent, worst case they go a little nutso and try to inject a few places in there but the pain is there and gone in 5 seconds. If at any point you feel pain they can do a better job of numbing you. Honestly, any pain caused in the numbing process goes away pretty quickly when they successfully do it.
They poke around, there’s a little drilling, some bad smell maybe heat maybe cold a lot of spitting out little sandy chunks of debris. If the tooth is still in pretty good shape they just pack it back up and you’re good to go.
If you end up needing a crown there’s a good bit more drilling a good bit more spitting a good bit more smoke. But it’s really just the same thing prolonged.
It won’t kill you, it will annoy you and it’s marginally unpleasant, The anxiety of being there in the anxiety of not knowing what’s going on is much worse than the actual procedure. Meditate, chill, roll with it you’ll be fine.
I’m more concerned with the things we had a few years ago that are now gone, and the new fascist hand me downs that are popping up everywhere.
I get it, but we already brought most of the communities and content over…
Keeping a close eye and tight rain on bias and fallacy, observation beats word of mouth. A peer-reviewed scientific study is exactly equal to observation.
Mathematical proof is also observation.
Lack of observation does not in any way indicate lack of truth. Because you feel or don’t feel some way and have or have not seen something happen to someone else in no way influences whether something actually happened to someone else. Our perception filters are incredibly bad.
Appeal to authority means very little as single people easily get biased. Discount anything said if the person telling you the truth stands to gain money power or time from it being believed.
You’re going to need a few He’s a chonky boy
to carry explosive, and a separate device to direct the explosion you can cause a lot of (directed) destruction.
But maybe not crash the airplane as a result.
We’ve seen them lose a door and the front third fo the roof before, they’re surprisingly robust
The showing that devices work seems to be the weirdest thing. Like somebody couldn’t put a large enough amount of explosive into a cell phone simply by shrinking the battery down to give it like 5 minutes of run time.
My old Note 4 had a zero lemon battery pack. It made the phone an inch thick.
I just watched a documentary on older Italian food apparently parmesan in Italy was originally creamier and softer.
Ahh we need that much liquid to offset the pound of carbs we injested. We’re all food addicted. We can stop until we feel bloated and miserable, that’s the American version of satiated.
Upside down power switches, I did not know that, and I’ve even been to Great Britain briefly.
Not sure how I feel about that, the direction of gravity turns our switches off and they turn your switches on?
It’s kind of a warning marker. You dip into a small neighborhood with flags all over the place and it’s not near 4th of July You’ve stumbled into a very anti-immigrant, anti minority* area. Their weaponizing patriotism.
Edit: f’ing dictation
I keep a little bit of the sweet stuff around for special dishes, But usually I stop by the bakery department and get something the bakery made. If you’re picky and choosey about the brands you can easily find some regular shelve bread that are 2% or less which is still too much but better.
50% books maximum compression 25% music 128kb or maybe 96kb 25% video, cartoons compress the best, very low quality audio, very low resolution, very low framerate. Probably my favorite episodes from Futurama, Bluey.
I’d rather have loads of shitty quality content than a few choice pristine copies of high quality stuff.
I might also consider reducing each of those by half and including One of the smaller 250-500mb LLM and have it draft out ideas for stories and sit around writing code to make it generate content.
I kind of like that aspect of it… Is that wrong?
An u until live CD will find my decade old HP laser and print to it without any work.
Getting my NIXOS to print at the same printer? About an hour.
Canonical historically makes bad decisions. Ubuntu any most points in time is simply great. Their LTS is fab. But they’re hungry. And they screw with us over time. the latest Debian just erased most of the reason to go with Ubuntu adding nonfree, and they haven’t screwed us over.
Wayland is ready, ‘nobody’ else is ready to use Wayland. And by nobody, I mean any software packages that are doing anything at all out of the ordinary. Text expanders are a hot mess, remote control apps or dodgy, OBS screen capture is dodgy. We’re still playing catch up, support for Wayland in applications is honestly quite lacking.
I used to work for an insurer. Our entire health system is just a steaming pile of crap. Providers will double or triple bill. Hospitals raise their rates through the absolute roof so they have room for negotiations. The uninsured people more often than not get billed at the unnegotiated rate which is many times what it should be. If the insurers are short on money or profit margins are down and their stockholders are angry they end up turning down shitloads of procedures looking at the statistics for what’s least likely to cause lawsuits and death. Medicare requires you to go and recertify every patient every year, Mr Johnson’s an amputee, well you better get him back in to make sure he still is or you’re not going to pay for DME. Half the big insurers are still running on Big iron of one form or another, FTP over SSL coming hot off of mainframe.
It’s not a good look.
