There’s no more funny malware.
That depends who gets infected.
You or me infected by malware? No thanks!
Egon Mark infected by malware? Absolute hilarity!

It was a revelation at some point in my young life when I realized that CEOs (and any other executive position) are not the highly trained and capable leaders with grand business acumen that I was led to believe they are. Literally anyone can be a CEO for a few dollars and their name on a business registration with the local government, no training or capability is required.
Horrifying in retrospect to realize how many people lionize executives simply for adopting a title.
I haven’t used it much myself, it could be too early in it’s development to be useful, just thought I’d mention it though!
It looks like tabs are supported, but they call them an OptionContainer.
It seems like one sacrifices a lot of customizability for simplicity of code with this toolkit, but that might be fine for some use-cases.
I’ve historically used PySide (the free-license version of Qt) but for simple stuff like you’re looking for, you might get some mileage out of the Toga GUI toolkit. It’s relatively new, but promising.
I’ve actually been pretty impressed with the whole suite of BeeWare stuff in my informal testing so far; it’s a nice little bundle of tools. (Specifically I’m interested most in their distribution approach; building Python apps for distribution is a giant fucking pain, but this group seems to have improved the experience significantly.)
What I’ve done in the past is to copy the URL of the unavailable video (if it’s still accessible via the playlist entry, sometimes it isn’t which is annoying) and feed it into the Wayback Machine in the hopes that it got archived at some point. The video stream isn’t usually available that way, but at least the page title sometimes is, and then I can search for other versions of it.
Just pointing out how ironic it is that your response to someone informing you that you are being manipulated by police propaganda is to… go find stats sourced from the police to argue that you feel justified agreeing with the police propaganda.
🤔
Yeah sorry, that’s a commonly used abbreviation for venture capital, e.g. the investors who own stock/capital in the company that makes the software. I shouldn’t assume everyone knows what that means.
I see what you mean, I could have phrased it differently. What I meant is that the interface is no longer designed to serve the user (even though the user is using it). The purpose of the interface of a lot of things has shifted from being user focused to exist entirely to serve the interests of the VC (venture capital, e.g., investors) behind the product. It is literally an interface for the investors to generate more money, not for the user to accomplish their tasks better.
We ought to stop calling it UI when it’s not meant to benefit the user anymore. A lot of changes are probably more accurately called VCI because they are dark patterns meant to benefit the VC instead of the User.
I don’t even have an EV and I have to see the ads on the chargers because they’re in front of the store I’m walking into. So far, I’ve only noticed that at grocery stores, but it’s annoying.
You don’t see how a corporate entity like Google is related to capitalism? What exactly do you think capitalism means?
I’ve read that it’s relatively easy and cheap to grow them yourself from spores you can order online, but I haven’t looked into it yet. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some info.
Not who you asked, but I have similar experiences with recurring depression throughout my entire life so far, and I get a big boost in capacity to avoid deep depression for months/years just by using a small amount of psychedelic mushrooms every now and then. Not even enough to lose my grip on reality or anything wild like that, just enough to chill and be contemplative for an evening. Literally sustains me for months/years from one session.
I’m looking forward to the scientific community doing more studies on the effects of mushrooms, I truly think they are a potentially massive benefit for some neurotypes.
I don’t see how that’s hilarious, unless you’re an asshole. (Which, looking at your other comments, you seem to be.)
Also, there have been multiple incidents of supply shortages for the prescription medications that ADHD people tend to need. Being without their required medications can cause some people to make bad decisions, or to self medicate in other ways. None of that is their fault, and it’s not fucking “hilarious” in any way.
Your description of “being forced to do something” sounds like a distinct situation from a special interest. Special interests are driven by the individual themselves, not forced upon them. I wonder if what you’re thinking of might be the phenomenon called PDA (“pathological demand avoidance”, or more recently rephrased - more accurately IMO - as “persistent demand for autonomy”).
One possible interpretation is that autistic individuals can sometimes tend to go a bit overboard when finding a new hobby. We will sometimes find a new topic so engaging that we develop a “special interest” in it and spend days/weeks delving into every possible piece of information and niche knowledge available about that topic, considering all the implications and what-ifs and following all the informational leads.
Spending merely the minimum time required (which in this example is apparently 5 days) to get proficient is harder to estimate because an autist may instead need to spend weeks learning everything. Or, they might not.
No amount of acclimation will stop an ulcer from reacting badly to spicy food. There are plenty of people who love spicy hot food but physically can’t eat it, unfortunately.
KDE Connect (FREE, open source) is definitely a gem. I love using my phone as a remote mouse and keyboard for my HTPC, and syncing clipboard, files, links, and notifications with the other devices I’ve paired with. (BTW, despite the name, you don’t need KDE - or Linux even - to use it. It works on Windows and Android too.)
URLCheck (FREE, open source) is fantastic. It’s a little pop-up that appears when you click a link, showing you the full URL and letting you modify it before you open with your browser/associated app (e.g., to remove tracking parameters):
URLCheck acts as an amazingly customizable and powerful intermediary when opening url links, allowing, among other things: to remove trackers, affiliate links, unnecessary elements, check Hosts, facilitating link holding and sharing, protecting against certain phishing techniques and many more…
I’m using Connect which has the feature to block instances. It shows comments from all users on a blocked instance collapsed behind a spoiler of sorts that can be clicked to reveal if desired.
I think you need to take a break and get some perspective.
Besides, the Twitter link was already posted by the OP, why would it need to be posted again?
