10·27 days agoNever let yourself become dependent on something a company has control of, if at all possible. They will use it as leverage to coerce concessions from you that drive you further toward controlling nothing at all.
We could all use a “Live without technology” day where everyone lives intentionally without using technology owned by others, learn first hand where those liabilities and leverage are in our lives, the cost of loss of access, and the alternatives. We are far more likely to accept enshitification of everything if a loss of access suddenly causes a crisis we’ve never encountered before. Awareness is a strength that would be wise to cultivate. If you can’t go one day without tech, you’re already told dependent and tbh, a threat to the community and people around you.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why does it seem like the majority of people think problems are caused by drugs rather than problems causing people to turn to drugs?
31·29 days agoBecause they don’t care about others and want access to the resources that would be spent to help them. They see drug addicts as losers who can’t compete and want to keep them out of the game. They treat them the way they were taught to treat others, by being treated that way themselves.

10·1 month agoThose power users are the ones who build the alternative. That path already exists, you simply refuse to walk it. The more who do, the better it gets.
But big business is very, very skilled at exploiting the parts of us that change behavior. Who am I, with a few words, to convince you to change, regardless of how much better would be if you did, when I’m up against the relentless propaganda expertise that convinces you, everyday, to keep accepting the path that is worse in the long run?

15·1 month agoTechnicalTee is one more example how people really only consider how things impact them, not others, not their community, and not the future.
Or it’s part of a marketing initiative to encourage and make us feel safe to do that. Afterall, there is an ongoing war with marketing and public relations to shape us and our behavior. Seems pretty convenient to Sony if we all thought this way.

Why are they assholes? Because they didn’t know about chimeras?
