Jellyfin is finally moving to the new version scheme. With [major].[minor] having breaking changes between major versions and commitment to non breaking changes for minor bumps.

This release looks to be mostly house keeping, bug fixes, few minor features, and breaking changes being the legacy api key auth removal, best I can tell it’s just the name of the key is changed from api_key to ApiKey.

More “feel good” legislation that has no basis in reality. They obviously do not actually intend to enforce this for corporations because it would shut down modern software development and data centers overnight. Imagine spinning up a docker container or a VM with accounts created. Suddenly you’re violating the law because there’s no age attestation. Nor should there be.

If they want this to actually fly, they should be more targeted in their legislation, but that would require they actually know what they’re fucking talking about.

How difficult is it for an adversary to get in the middle of the TPM releasing the keys to LUKS? That’s why I would want attestation of some sort, but that makes it more complicated and thinking about how that would work in practice makes my head spin…

Is clevis using an attestation server or is it all on a single machine? I’m interested in getting this set up but the noted lack of batteries included for this in the common distros makes it a somewhat tall order.

It has not worked for me in over a year to the point I’ve had to use other apps like Swiftfin (is also broken, I compiled it myself to fix a few things but never could get my code upstreamed), or SenPlayer or Infuse. SenPlayer works well enough honestly, but I am glad to see active development of the Jellyfin iOS app!

I completely agree. This shit came down when they had their failed social circled thing where they broke search operators and required a Google account for YouTube. They’ve been on the full-blown path to enshittification ever since.

I don’t disagree, but what more could Google do here? They had a flaw in their system that required two completely different services at Google in order to exploit and the result is an email address, not access to the account itself. Google also is actively paying for people to help them find these issues. I think they did a stellar job here, but of course being perfect with the security if the software implementations is always the best case.
