  • DRM just slows down how many people pirate stuff by making it non-trivial. If piracy was extremely simple and completely without risk everyone would be doing it, which in turn would start to cause harmful effects that they justify all anti-piracy stuff. I dont think corporations see it that way though, they are likely just bunch of idiots that want to squeeze even more from us.

Not defending drms or generally any anti-piracy stuff, but humanity might not be quite ready for 100% free information. Hopefully it will eventually happen though. All of you are fighting for our freedom by not giving up on this.

  • Majority of people just dont care about being spied upon unless it directly affects them somehow, at which point its too late for that person. But others having data on you wont likely directly affect you at the moment so not enough people get burned by it for general attitude to change. Smart people understand that all this can very easily change and prepare by not allowing all of their information be available for questionable people to use. Others make fun of them for this and call them crazy until one day they suddenly aren’t so crazy any more.

  • I already moved to firefox, this made me think about stop using google drive and gmail too.

Technically I would be fucked if google decided to just block my account and they have demonstrated they will do it if they feel like it

(the case in 2022 about someone sending picture of their own baby to the doctor and was automatically flagged for it. google blocked that persons account and didnt unblock it even though it was proven he did nothing wrong. The pictures werent even sent via gmail, i think, so google just scanned their private photos.)

I have separate account for youtube, but I worry in the future they might connect it to my main account and start threatening to ban it if i continue using adblock. Now i’m also kind of worried if google decides in the future that something is unacceptable, like making comments against corporations or something.

  • Well, its not that I actually strongly believe anything. I’m just hoping there is something after death. It also makes it a little easier to live here since I dont think I can do anything meaningful in this life and considering how it all will go to shit anyway due to humanity just not bothering to do enough to stop climate breakdown.

I guess I just really dislike pointless faffing about.

Yes, kind of. I believe there has to be more than can be scientifically proven because otherwise there really isnt much point in this world. I also think there has to be some kind of soul, how else could you be aware of your own mind? Though I wonder if its internal or external and just connected to your body in some nebulous way.

But what I definitely dont believe is that church or anyone who gains material benefit from religion has any connection to god. And what comes to bible, its good starting point and has many good core ideas. Its also a bit corrupted by greedy and powerhungry people so it shouldnt be relied upon if you can’t filter it. Other religions likely also have good ideas in their holy texts though they are likely harder to understand and relate to due to cultural differences.

Ones relationship with god is extremely personal and no one can’t order you about with it.
