We have recorded evidence of primates fighting wars… We don’t recognize animal hierarchy as states, but the analogs are there.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why hasn't Euro become the default global reserve currency yet?
17·1 month agoThe Euro has a few problems that keep it from being a reserve currency. A big one is that it’s not a centralized currency, since each EU member has their own fiscal policy. This creates a lot of risk with limited upside.
Europe also doesn’t make enough stuff at the international level to need to get lots of Euros. Europe also doesn’t seem culturally interested in being a global reserve and is more content being regional.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why doesn't the United States have universal healthcare by now? (Serious)
1·1 month agoThe US system mostly works for a lot of people. There’s not a lot of people willing to risk things getting worse for them so 10-15% of people get something better.
There’s also massive doctor shortage issues that will only get worse with healthcare reform. Even if cost wasn’t an issue, there wouldn’t really be access.
Asteroid impacts are a bit disturbingly common. It was only 8 years ago that one about twice as powerful as the nukes used on Japan hit earth. Smaller but still over a kiloton have hit in the last two years.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the most overrated video game of all time?
5·1 month agoHalo CE is definitely a but dated now, but 2 is one of the best campaigns even still. I’m not sure it can be overrated though. 3\odst is some of the best multiplayer experience there was before the series was infected with CoD.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have any ideas on how to attract people from centralized platforms to such as lemmy?
11·3 months agoI think we need more of everything else (except Linux and Star Trek) rather than less politics.

It does seem like there’s an inverse correlation of general intelligence/common sense and specialized study.
This is clearly wrong. It only takes 36 days, since the boy and girl nut alternate their maturity cycles.
You missed what they meant. It means gpt5 is really good at one arbitrary and extremely specific topic. Anything else it’s comparable with a random person on the street.

8·5 months agoIf you have a mild clog it’s probably worth trying it according to the directions. If it’s severe, just call a plumber. If you don’t have a clog, then just keep it under a sink or something.
If you are feeling adventurous, get some aluminum foil.

1·5 months agoYou will notice your body slowing down soon. It might not be the second you turn 30, but almost definitely by 32.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
10·5 months agoIf you want kids there’s a few things to consider.
- Graduate highschool then get married before kids.
- Kids are physically easier when you’re younger.
- No one is ever really ready for kids, but you should have some level of financial stability and be prepared to have significantly less freedom.
Be purposeful in what you spend money on. You don’t need the best of everything, especially when starting a new hobby. You can find someone spending absurd amounts on anything, but no one can do that on everything.
There’s also a huge difference between beef cows and dairy cows.

That’s also the color copper burns, but for all the flames to look like that would require a lot of copper mixed in the gas or something disintegrating in the supply line.
