Agreed on all points, and also would like to point out most of the people who want to “go back” are not the ones who were oppressed during that time. It’s no surprise that the people who want to go back are mostly those who grew up in the white suburbs and small towns, where it was simple and easy.

The oppressed are conveniently left out of those conversations. Where were the black people, or the gay people during those times? They existed, but in a very simple worldview it’s easy to forget that.

I don’t know of any millennial or younger who assumes there will be a safety net for them at the end of the road. We just don’t trust those in charge to keep it. I’ll fight for it, I paid into it and I want others to have it, but I can’t bank on it either

If you name your services Megatron or aragorn then be ready for business and executives to use those names for 10+ years. The joke is officially dead when you force someone 3 layers above you to demand “why did Galactica go down over the weekend, who is responsible?!”. Be thoughtful in your naming.

I honestly agree. The casting of the movies was perfect in my opinion. Mr and Mrs Weasley. Snape. Trewlawney, mcGonagle. Harry, Ron, Hermione. It was great casting up and down. I mean, it’s not like it ships it to production. You can read code it writes and modify it if you don’t like it, or choose not to use it.

I use it daily. I wouldn’t blindly trust code it writes, but it offers alternative solutions and when I’m hunting for a but it’s very good at giving me ideas of what might be wrong at a glance. Terraform and infra too it can catch nuances i may be missing.

No, still “perfect” for llms. There’s nuance, seeing patterns being used, it should be able to handle it perfectly. Enough people on stack overflow asked enough questions, if AI is like Google and Microsoft claim it is, it should have handled it

I’ve personally never cared too much. It’s what it costs to have society. I agree with others where I don’t like half of it going to the military, but other than that I view it as a good thing. I’m doing okay, I can afford to help others get by a bit. I also get benefits, I get our local transit, we get roads, I like fire departments, parks, walkways, it’s just paying my share so I get to enjoy those things. And if for some reason I wasn’t doing okay, I would feel okay using those safety nets too
