Also would like to add that the digestion itself uses energy and again, different foods require different amounts to be processed.

As Amaerica showed during the Prohibition and as we see today with opioids, humans will always want to alter their consciouness, no matter the cost. Legalizing drugs along with treating addiction as a disease and not a crime, would be a net positive.

Dune seems tricky to read as a child/teenager, it starts to get philosophical as the story goes on.

Yup, exactly this. Portugal decriminalized drug use and helped immensely with hard drugs usage.

Currently read the Dune series, just finished Children of Dune and will start God Emperor of Dune tonight.

I still remember when i watched as a teen. It was airing on TV and I was like “sweet, a sci fi space movie!”. I was really enjoying it but then the horror starts… I was so freaked out but couldnt stop watching.
