  • Something that looks like higher order reasoning emerged from training larger networks. At the end of the day it’s still just spicy autocomplete. Theoretically you could give it a large enough dataset to “predict” almost anything with really high accuracy, but all it’s doing is pattern recognition. One could argue that that’s all humans do, but that’s getting more into philosophy and skipping a lot of nuance.

I’m not like, trying to argue with you by the way. Just having a fun time with this line of thought ^^

  • You’ve been speaking with your chest this whole time and now that we’re into the nitty gritty you really just said “The ai does… something!” It’s so general a description that by your measure automated thermostats are engaging in human reasoning when they make it a little bit cooler on a hot day.

You might’ve been oversimplifying on purpose. I just can’t help but think you have no idea how LLMs work outside of this inherently flawed comparison to human thought.

  • Nintype (AKA keyboard 69) is the only double-swipe keyboard I’ve ever used that works worth a damn. Android development was abandoned a while ago, so you’ve gotta find the APK yourself. Someone on the subreddit made a hackjob update called keyboard 71 which fixes some random bugs and introduces some new ones, that’s what I’m currently using. I wanna say I average around 85 wpm typing casually.

It’s also got the smartest autocorrect I’ve ever fucked with, learning dictionary, all that jazz. Damn shame it was abandoned. If it ever stops working on android I reckon I’ll just have to buy an iphone :/

  • If your hair is neither thick nor fine and you’re not having any problems with buildup or dryness, you’re totally fine to just keep doing what you’re doing. Also if you’ve got straight and/or short hair you can probably ignore the no-sulfates/silicones stuff.

Most hair care products are designed for a specific kind of hair, usually straight and pretty flat. I started using black hair care products and my hair went from wavy and frizzy to natural ringlets and only sorta frizzy! SheaMoisture is my personal favorite brand.

Probably loads less then you would need for signage. I reckon you could get away with no redundancy if you went with a large enough base size on the grid.

You can go as far as replacing the square “pixels” with circular dots and it still reads fine, qr codes are kind of amazing.

I heard a story that back in the 80s there were some foreign diamond salesmen that came in around the 4th of July. I forget their nationality, but they had never seen fireflies before. They got invited to a fireworks display, and someone there showed them that when you squish a firefly it leaves a glowing smear.

Anyway they scurry off to look at fireflies for a while, everyone else watches the fireworks. No one really pays them any mind until they come back to the crowded area, and suddenly everyone is noticing that they’ve given themselves glowing war-paint.

I wanna say they were Japanese, but google says there are fireflies in Japan. Maybe they were just real goofy guys. Either way it’s an insane energy to bring to a party and I think about it a lot.
