Like the title says, many of my shows are putting every episode in just S01. Other seasons are empty. For instance Doctor Who S01 should have 13 episodes, not 99+. This is a new issue, I guess with the recent version update. Here’s my typical file structure, which had worked for a long time without this issue.
I just torrent box sets to a folder named for the show typically. I don’t use any plugin or other tools to make the files across shows have a consistent file name structure because before, I haven’t needed to.
Often, the torrent will provide a top directory that holds all the season directories. I just stick the top one into my more nicely named folder, since I got sick of the badly named torrents in my filesystem.
Any advice? Tips on allowing torrenting to continue while also letting me rename directories to how Jellyfin specifies in the docs?
Each season folder should just be called ‘Season 1’ rather than ‘Show name Season 1’
Yeah that makes sense. But it’s frustrating when I’m trying to continue seeding a torrent. Plus, this incorrect naming scheme had been working over a year until recently.
Hard link the folder from your seeding/download directory to your media directory with the correct naming.
I only did a quick search on this so far, but it seems like you can only hard link a file, so do you mean i should soft link the directories over to a jellyfin folder? Thank you.
Most people accomplish this automatically using radarr/sonarr. Trashguides is commonly recommended for people to understand how to set it up correctly.
If you want to manage your torrents and files manually it gets tedious fast, so I recommend setting up radarr/sonarr. If you’re like me and don’t agree with the trashguides policy of “always grab the highest quality file available”, then just disable monitoring and use “interactive search” for torrents or manually import files from torrents that you download normally.
