I try to learn something new.
There’s only so much time you can spend processing and healing… sometimes you need the reprieve of distractions.
Not only are you engrossed in an activity, but you feel a sense of accomplishment in the process.
For example:
- Taking an evening course with a hands-on or creative outlet
- Becoming a fan of a local team for a sport you don’t know a lot about
- take a new style of dance/boxing/yoga/etc. class
- Be a tourist in your own city and take “sightseeing” tours offered by local tour guides, etc.
process your feelings in a healthy way. for example, writing and making art about it; dancing, working out and doing sports to process it in a physical way; talk to trusted people; and, if you are experiencing depression, heightened anxiety, or other mental health symptoms, talk to a psychiatrist.
Keep busy until enough time passes that the pain subsides and you can move on.
Edit: deleted comment… sorry, I meant to reply to OP.
Not much. You nurse it for a while. And most of the time, our human instinct for adapting to a changing condition kicks in. There is truth to the adage that time heals all wounds. I would add it may not heal it entirely but sufficiently.
A broken heart is like that. After a while you get used to it. And you’ll probably move on without realising it. And until you get there, distract yourself. Only hardcore introverts benefit from being alone.
So much for the platitudes. Every case is different. You may realise in time that extra steps are necessary. Like a physical move or a change in profession, etc.
Feed it to puppo as it is excellent nutrients with essential minerals and vitamins.

How do we define a broken heart? Does years of extreme depression leave one with a broken heart? Asking for a friend.
I’ll go to a chapel with dwarf prostitutes doing pole dancing. And I will slap their asses with a bunch of money.
