Fair, the past two decades just don’t have the same “ring” as “the 20’s” or any of the next ones. I still remember people realizing that they never really knew what the “20’s/30’s/etc” naming for the first decade of the 1900’s after the 90’s ended. I feel like local news and other media made points to tell people “the noughties/oughts”. So much attention really put on the simple shortening of everything after “20’s” last century. Even “the teens” just doesn’t have the same “ring” to it, and since 10-12 aren’t “teens”.
