No it doesn’t. If Google stops supporting it, the community forks it and continues development. Has happened often in the past.
No. Brave builds on top of the Chromium engine which is from Google but open source.

tfm@europe.pubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do most people stay in centralized social media platforms when the Fediverse exists?English30·1 month agoBecause of network effects.
Building a social network is hard. A typical chicken or egg problem. If you don’t have a user base, nobody is willing to join, and if nobody joins, you don’t have a user base.
It usually requires a bunch of money to build a social network.
The fediverse has a long time to go but I believe it will win sooner or later.
Yes, it should be explicitly mentioned, that deletion isn’t guaranteed. But I don’t think it’s a deal breaker. People should be aware that posting something publicly on the internet, must always be considered to be preserved into infinity.
If you post something publicly on Facebook, there is also a high probability that some web scrapers save your pictures and posts. Deletion does nothing there.
Btw ATproto is even worse. Pretty much everything is public there. https://docs.bsky.app/blog/block-implementation
