Sorry if this isn’t the correct place to report this I will delete and move it to correct place if provided.
As title mentions I can’t get into my main account after enabling 2 factor authentication.
I am using Google Authenticator 6.0 the code appears there as expected. However when I provide it to either the browser login screen or Jebora then select the log in button nothing happens.
It doe not indicate it is the wrong code, nor does it give any error messages.
Chromes debug console a 400 (Bad request) with error: “incorrect_totp token”
I assume this means it doesn’t like the authentication code I am providing. Though I’m not quite sure what it’s expecting.
This is a support question, you should have a look at the sidebar
Try one of these maybe? !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml !nostupidlemmyquestions@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Hopefully these help. It wouldn’t let me copy paste them so hopefully I typed them correctly. If not check the sidebar.
- Make sure the time and timezone is correctly set on your device, TOTP is time-dependent and both the server and the smartphone needs to have the same time in order to validate the code.
- Lemmy uses SHA256 instead of SHA1 like most other websites using TOTP. Honestly I’m not sure Google Authenticator supports it, as I don’t see the option when attempting to add a key manually.
